About Bill
I am a professional musician with over 40 years of experience performing and teaching guitar and trumpet. I have previously taught at Santa Clara University, and over the years I’ve played in bands, nightclubs, festivals, and musical theater productions. My teaching philosophy combines solid music theory with practical playing, helping students improve their technique while developing a genuine love for music. I enjoy working with students of all ages and levels, tailoring each lesson to their individual goals and musical interests. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, my aim is to make learning enjoyable, engaging, and rewarding.

I have been teaching guitar and trumpet for over 40 years, drawing on extensive performance experience in jazz, blues, rock, country, and other musical styles. My teaching approach combines practical playing techniques with solid music theory, helping students develop a strong foundation while enjoying the learning process.
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up, followed by technique exercises, repertoire building, and improvisation practice. I adapt each lesson to the student’s level and goals, whether they are beginners, intermediate learners, or advanced players seeking to refine their skills.
What sets me apart is my versatility as a professional performer, my emphasis on both reading standard notation and tablature, and my focus on helping students play music they truly enjoy. Lessons are suitable for students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to aspiring performers.
