About Abi

Hi, I'm Abi, a London-based professional tutor. I have 8 years of tutoring experience since graduating with a degree in French and Italian (specialism: linguistics) from the University of Cambridge. I have tutored for over 2000 hours (online, in person, one-on-one and group sessions) and am currently teaching 12 students across London and online. My specialisms are 7+, 11+ and 13+ preparation in English and verbal reasoning for academically selective schools and French at all levels.

Outside teaching, I'm a passionate linguist, avid reader and a singer and guitarist. I love to stay active through cycling, running and climbing. I've done lots of travelling and living abroad and I'm fortunate enough to share many of my hobbies and interests with my students.

About the lesson

In the last 3 years, I've taught English, verbal reasoning, languages, ESL, maths and interview skills from age 6 to 18. My approach is highly tailored and builds deep subject knowledge alongside exam readiness, where appropriate. My younger students at 7+ and 11+ have received offers to study at some of the best schools in the UK, including St Paul's School, St Paul's Girls' School, Latymer Upper School, Emanuel School, and Godolphin and Latymer School. My students at GCSE and A-level have excelled in their subjects (surpassing their target grades) and have gone on to receive scholarships and places at Russell Group universities and Oxbridge.

Before moving to London, I spent four years living in Paris and, as well as becoming fluent in French, taught French to English-speaking expats (A1-C1) and English to French lycée students (A1-C2). I am pleased to say that my tutees were accepted into some of the most highly regarded institutions in France.

Over the years, I have worked with many SEND students, including those with ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, dysgraphia and slow processing speeds, among other diagnoses. Whatever a student's learning style or needs, I firmly believe that the tutor-student relationship is the key to creating consistently productive and enjoyable sessions.
