Secretary and Trustee
Olga taught me Russian as a private tutor for three months. I cannot recommend her enough!
Firstly, Olga takes the time to learn about your skill level and interests. In our first few lessons, she had us do a bit of reading and conversation, after which she was able to pinpoint exactly how to help me improve. Russian speaking friends of mine were shocked at how much I improved in just three months due to her tutoring.
Secondly, Olga teaches the Russian language as a dynamic partner to Russian culture, history, religious experience and art. We read and discussed poetry, literature, political pieces and more technical articles. Not only that, she recommended wonderful Russian movies, very interesting documentaries, and enrichment trips to the opera and a Russian Orthodox church in San Francisco.
Thirdly and perhaps most importantly, Olga has a shining personality that makes the time you spend learning with her both educational and personally enjoyable. She is a wonderful woman and teacher.
Olga is able to notice what inspires a student and finds unique ways to use that in her teaching. As examples, she finds poetry translation projects to participate in online, videos on everything from religion to politics in Russian, and events at the Russian cultural center here in San Francisco. This is the most effective and engaging way of learning for most people. I learned an enormous amount with her and highly recommend her teaching.
