About Bianca

I am a psychology graduate, born and raised in Canada, with experience working in youth support, education, and mentoring roles. Having lived and studied in different countries (Spain and Czech Republic), I have developed strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to adapt to different learning styles and backgrounds.
I understand that learning a new language can feel challenging, so I focus on building confidence first, then developing fluency through practical, real-life communication. My goal is to make lessons engaging, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs so they feel both comfortable and motivated.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on creating a supportive, engaging, and confidence-building learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and making mistakes as a natural part of learning. My background in psychology, combined with my experience working with youth in structured and dynamic environments, has shaped a patient, adaptable, and student-centred teaching approach.

Teaching methodology and techniques:

My teaching style is communicative and practical, with an emphasis on real-world English use. I focus on building fluency, confidence, and comprehension across speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Grammar is taught in context rather than in isolation so students can immediately apply what they learn in meaningful ways.

I adapt my methods to each student’s goals and learning style using:
- guided conversation practice to develop fluency and natural speaking skills
- reading activities to build comprehension, vocabulary, and confidence with authentic texts
- structured writing support to improve clarity, grammar, and expression
- support with professional writing, including resumes and cover letters
- interactive exercises such as role-plays and scenario-based learning
- gentle, supportive correction that encourages progress without disrupting flow
- personalised topics based on student interests to increase engagement and motivation

My priority is always to create a safe and encouraging space where students feel comfortable using English actively and consistently.

Typical lesson plan
A typical lesson is structured but flexible depending on the student’s level and goals:

1. Warm-up conversation (5–10 mins): casual speaking practice to build confidence and activate vocabulary
2. Main skill focus (15–25 mins): speaking, reading, writing, or professional English task depending on the lesson objective
3. Language focus (10–15 mins): introducing or reinforcing vocabulary, grammar, or pronunciation that arises naturally
4. Practice activity (10–15 mins): applying new language through guided exercises or real-life scenarios (including job applications or written tasks when relevant)
5. Wrap-up and feedback (5 mins): summary of progress, corrections, and clear next steps for improvement

What sets me apart as a tutor:

What sets me apart is my background in psychology and extensive experience working with youth in supportive and structured environments. This has given me a strong understanding of motivation, confidence-building, and communication barriers in learning. I have also lived in a few different countries within the last few years so I am adaptable in my communication style and sensitive to different cultural backgrounds.

I am particularly skilled at working with learners who feel shy, anxious, or uncertain about their English abilities. I create a calm, encouraging atmosphere where students feel safe to participate and improve at their own pace. My approach is highly adaptive, patient, and focused on building real confidence, not just academic accuracy.
