About Deschaney
I am a published fiction writer and poet based in Moseley, Birmingham. I have been working in schools and teaching privately for six years, working with primary school, GCSE and A-level students. As a private tutor with Inkhead, I facilitated after school clubs as well as private lessons for primary school students, personalising lessons around student interest and ability. I use creative writing (whether poetry, playwriting, or story writing) to encourage students to access the national curriculum in a unique way, and help to inspire enthusiasm for literature. I have also worked as an EAL tutor and a tutor for children with dyslexia, often using creative, visual exercises to help differentiate work and help children who find English a challenge or a bore! I have worked as a private tutor for students preparing for their GCSE and A-Level examinations in English Language and Literature. I personalise lessons around every student's interest and ability, and encourage discussion and creative work to assist their understanding of the examinations, and to help build their confidence.
