Published writer with 5 years of teaching experience offers English lessons in Chattanooga, TN.

Methodology

As a professional writer and educator of English literature, I base my teaching style on the Socratic Method, a form of collaborative discussion that encourages critical analysis of academic texts in relation to essay topics. In my experience, I have found that conversation spurs creative thought, leading to an exploration of ideas that can be cohesively channeled into a polished composition by following the step-by-step writing process.

Background

After receiving my Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Saint Mary's College of California, I moved to the Greater Seattle Area, where I taught high school students each step of the writing process -- everything from brainstorming, researching, outlining, drafting, revising, to editing -- so that every essay met college AP standards. Now that I've returned to Chattanooga, my hometown in the great state of Tennessee, I'm looking forward to teaching students vital rhetorical strategies to support their thesis statements with pathos, logos, and ethos.
