About Silvia
I am a native Italian and have been teaching Italian to people from all over the world for many years. Languages and Learning have always been strongly present in my life, and I am a passionate advocate of life long learning. I first obtained a BA in Modern Languages in the UK, and than took a course for teaching Italian as a second language at the Italian Culture Institute in London. I have also worked in international development for a long time. However, the focus was always on education and thanks to that, I have learnt a lot more about training, coaching and curriculum development.

I normally employ a communicative approach, which means that I focus on authentic language in context and inspire you to communicate in Italian from day 1. There is a huge variety of methodologies, approaches and resources available, nowadays. After a careful assessment of your needs, goals and interests, I will hand pick and decide with you what will be the most effective and enjoyable for you to use.
Long gone are the times when we used to learn languages mostly through grammar rules and written grammar exercises. Even so, grammar is still very useful if you want to consolidate your ability to manipulate the language independently. We will use it in just right amount and as needed! Obviously, if you are a grammar enthusiast, I will be happy to integrate it fully in your learning.
