About Veronica

I graduated from Exeter University with a BA (Ed) and I am a qualified and experienced primary school teacher.
I was a SENCO (Special Needs Coordinator) for 12 years and I have over 20 years experience teaching and supporting children with SEND at two London primary schools. I also have a Level 5 Certificate for Teachers of Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD).
I teach children who are diagnosed with dyslexia or display traits of dyslexia / SpLD. I teach children who have gaps in their English language skills or require support in any area of primary learning.
I create an atmosphere where each child feels at ease to happily ask questions. Through modelling, multi-sensory activities, clear explanations and engaging conversations, your child will gain increased confidence and understanding, both of which are vital for successful learning!
QTS, SpLD Level 5 and DBS certificates.

About the lesson

I am a friendly, experienced and approachable teacher who builds warm rapport with her pupils and creates personalised, engaging, varied and enjoyable lessons.
I include elements of ‘errorless’ learning to boost self-esteem as well as ‘over-learning’ to help your child retain new knowledge and transfer it to their long-term memory. I specialise in remedial spelling, reading and writing. I also help children with their fine motor skills, in particular, cursive handwriting.
Difficulties with literacy and learning gaps can limit children’s ability to access the whole curriculum, so it is vital to provide support to help children overcome any barriers to learning.
I specialise in helping children build confidence with phonemes, spellings, and decoding skills for reading and spelling. I support pupils with initiating and completing tasks, understanding English texts, and answering comprehension questions in full sentences. I also guide each child when planning written work, fostering both skill and enjoyment in their work. I boost their ability and confidence when proofreading and correcting their own written work.
Through modelling, a variety of activities, clear explanations and engaging conversations, your child will gain increased confidence and understanding, both of which are vital for successful learning!
My passion is helping children to thrive, enjoy learning, gain knowledge, be more confident and overcome learning difficulties.
I specialise in teaching children aged 6-12 years.
I teach one to one online and in person.
