It was a real pleasure to be Maxime’s mentor over the last year and witness her wonderful ability to support every pupil while maintaining high expectations and providing meaningful challenge for all, not just the more able. She is also highly skilled at planning English, breaking learning into small, purposeful steps and revisiting knowledge throughout the year to ensure it is secure.

This was particularly evident when I looked through her Year 1 pupils’ books, where the impact of her teaching was clear in their composition, spelling and overall quality of work.

I had the pleasure of working closely with Maxime over the past year. I worked in EYFS while Maxime taught in Key Stage 1, and we collaborated regularly to ensure consistency and progression across the year groups.

Maxime is an incredibly knowledgeable, adaptable and enthusiastic teacher. Despite being relatively early in her teaching career, she has developed a strong understanding of children’s development and demonstrates a wide range of effective teaching skills. She is always willing to try new approaches and adapts her teaching thoughtfully to meet the needs of individual children.

One of the things I particularly admire is her positive attitude towards children’s learning. She has worked with a number of children with significant EAL and SEND needs and consistently demonstrates an excellent ability to differentiate and provide appropriate support and challenge.

We worked particularly closely on phonics and ensuring that progression between EYFS and Key Stage 1 was maintained, as well as collaborating on whole-school events such as the Nativity. Maxime was always reliable, collaborative and willing to share ideas.

I met Maxime whilst we both worked together as English teachers in South Korea. Maxime was always passionate about teaching and loved working with her class. We have stayed friends and now both live in London where we continue to meet up often to eat out or visit galleries.
