About Melissa

I am a warm, approachable, and energetic individual who enjoys staying active and spending time at the beach in my spare time. Having recently become a mother, I am now returning to the workforce following the completion of my maternity leave, with my son now eight months old. After a rewarding 17-year career as a teacher, I am eager to explore new opportunities that will allow me to broaden my professional skills and take on a more individual approach to teaching through tutoring. I bring with me exceptional organizational abilities, a creative mindset, and a genuine ability to connect with people. My strong interpersonal skills, combined with a proactive, punctual, and self-driven work ethic, have allowed me to thrive in my teaching and deliver high-quality lessons leading to achieved outcomes. About the lesson

Throughout my career, I have worked in a diverse range of educational environments—from small rural schools with just 20 students to larger metropolitan schools. I have specialised in teaching early years students (Kindergarten to Year 2) and held leadership positions such as Year 1 Team Leader, P–2 Coordinator, Mathematics Specialist, and Assessment & Reporting Coordinator. These roles have equipped me with strong skills in individualised instruction, program implementation, and mentoring other educators.
What I value most in education is the ability to build trusting relationships with students and tailor lessons to their unique needs. As a tutor, I offer a nurturing and supportive learning environment that fosters confidence, engagement, and a love of learning. I am adept at creating differentiated, hands-on lessons that accommodate varying abilities and interests. I take a holistic approach to student wellbeing and academic growth, ensuring that every session helps a learner move closer to achieving their personal goals.
I am passionate about collaborating with families to support student progress, and I understand the importance of communication, organisation, and flexibility in a tutoring role. My experience with early intervention, curriculum planning, and assessment allows me to identify and respond to learning gaps effectively.
