About Callum

I’m a young, enthusiastic teacher with a genuine passion for helping learners of all ages grow in confidence. I’ve been lucky enough to learn from incredible educators throughout my life, and their influence is a huge part of why I teach today. They inspired my love of learning, encouraged me to think deeply, and showed me how powerful great teaching can be. Because of them, I knew I wanted to instil that same motivation in others — whether that’s a child discovering a new skill, a teenager preparing for exams, or an adult returning to study. My recent primary teacher training strengthened this passion further, giving me a calm, structured and supportive teaching style that translates naturally into online tutoring.

In my lessons, I bring together strong foundations in phonics, reading development, modelling, scaffolding and adaptive instruction, while also supporting older learners with EAL, academic writing, English literature and confident descriptive writing. I enjoy working with learners from early readers right through to GCSE/A‑Level students and adults who want to improve their English for study, work or personal growth. My goal is always the same: to make learning enjoyable, accessible and meaningful, and to help every learner feel capable, motivated and proud of their progress — just as my own teachers once made me feel.

About the lesson

My online History lessons are shaped by my recent primary teacher training and my academic background — I hold a degree in History, which gives me a strong subject foundation and a genuine passion for helping learners understand the past. As a young teacher inspired by brilliant educators throughout my life, I aim to make History engaging, accessible and full of curiosity. I use clear modelling, visual timelines, enquiry‑based questioning and structured explanations to help students analyse sources, understand interpretations and build confident historical thinking.

Lessons typically last 45–60 minutes and follow a simple structure: warm‑up, clear teaching, guided exploration, independent practice and personalised feedback. I have experience teaching History across KS1 and KS2, and my sessions are suitable for children aged 7–12, EAL learners, and older students who want support with essay structure, exam preparation or developing analytical writing. My goal is to help learners feel confident, curious and excited about discovering the past — just as my own teachers inspired in me.
