About Katy
I have completed two weeks' work experience at the Leigh Technology Academy in Dartford, one week at West Hill Primary School in Dartford, one week at Wilmington Academy in Dartford, and one day at Gravesend Grammar School. I have completed a month's teaching internship in Evelyn Grace Academy in London and have also undergone a six month teacher mentoring scheme. I have been a private tutor for two years, and am now also a qualified secondary English teacher; I completed my English PGCE at the University of Oxford.

I offer my first lesson for free, as I use this lesson to gain all the necessary details from the student and map out a plan of what needs to be done in each lesson, to achieve optimal results.
After this, my pedgagogy is adapted to the needs of the individual student.
If online, I prepare a powerpoint to share my screen via Zoom, and model tasks over the screen. I typically designate the lesson time to me showing how something is done, by also getting the student's input and guiding them through the process. I then set them a task to do on their own, taking on board my teaching in the lesson. This means that the lesson time is designated to me delivering valuable teaching from start to finish, while leaving any independent work and marking to outside the lesson, which helps get the most out of each lesson. I make myself constantly contactable via email, so that the student can ask me to check their independent work and give extra help, if necessary.
I take a similar approach in person, although I will often get the student attempting the task a little more, with my guidance.

Perfect! Katy is a lovely person and extremely dedicated in helping people achieve the best grades they can.
I’m want to apply to medicine and therefore need a 6 in English language, I previously only had a 4, Katy helped me go from a 4 to a 6 grade in under 2 months before my exam; I’m positive that if I had given her more time to help me I would have achieved much higher grades.
