About Gary

Hello, I'm Gary. I have spent over 30 years in education because I genuinely enjoy helping young people succeed. I find it incredibly rewarding to build confidence, develop understanding and help students achieve goals they may once have thought impossible.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred on building confidence, understanding and independence. Every student is different, so I begin by identifying their current level of understanding, strengths and any gaps in knowledge. Lessons are then tailored to their individual needs, ensuring that learning is appropriately challenging while remaining enjoyable and achievable.

With over 30 years' experience in education, including roles as Teacher, SENDCo, Headteacher, University Educator and Private Tutor, I have worked successfully with students across a wide range of ages and abilities. I specialise in supporting students who need to improve confidence, catch up on missed learning, prepare for examinations or reach higher levels of attainment.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although shorter sessions can be arranged for younger learners. Sessions are structured, interactive and focused on clear learning objectives. As examinations approach, greater emphasis is placed on revision strategies, past papers and exam technique.

I also provide support for students with SEND, entrance examinations and university preparation. My aim is always to help students make excellent progress while developing a positive attitude towards learning.
