About Megan
I am a teacher (BA Education) with extensive training in reading instruction, resume development, college writing, writing in a variety of genres (radio scripts, news, academic research, forensic speeches). I published my writing through academic research (NARST & AERA), curricula (Science, Literacy & STEM), speeches (Forensics, Awards), and news articles (The Northern Light Newspaper).

My teaching method is based on students intrinsic motivations, strengths, & needs.
Reading: I am an RIT Reading Interventionist Instructor: this means that I can teach a student who has no idea to read (at any age) and teach them how to read within their natural frame of development. I also have ESL training and can help students from other backgrounds/languages learn to read/write as well.
Writing: I like to integrate art, current events and different formats of technology into my classes. Since writing is becoming so much more multimodal with every technological advancement students need to be able to adapt, to practice and to learn all of the ways they can express themselves through writing- so when they need to effectively communicate, they're able to successfully do so, without much misinterpretation. This creates opportunities where students can practice with various types of writing in my lessons, while also providing space for practice, which ultimately leads towards fluency.
