About Mikayla
As an educator with experience in many different teaching settings, I am in search of a new opportunity and career path. I strongly believe that my work in various school settings has helped me with my communication and leadership skills. I now plan on taking the skills and insights I have learned in the classrooms I have taught in and applying them to a new setting. I have an abundance of training in many ELA, math, and science curriculums including; Bridges in Mathematics (MLC), Number Corner (MLC), UFLI, Pearson - MyView, Heggerty, Dibels 8, and Handwriting Without Tears, GoMath!, Pearson Reading Street, Pearson EnVisions, FOSS Next generation Science Curriculum, Think Central Journeys Reading program, Lexia Leveling, Lucy Calkins, Orton-Gillingham, and Wilsons Language Training.

My name is Mikayla and I am currently a Curriculum Leader and kindergarten teacher. I am a graduate student from American International College where I obtained my Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist in 2022, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I have most recently been working as the grade level leader on my district’s curriculum team which meets with and assists the admin in piloting and selecting curriculum programs, implementing UDL, discussing cultural proficiency, attending leadership trainings, leading grade level meetings once a week, and looking at district-wide data for math, ELA, science, and social studies. Along with this leadership role, I am also a kindergarten teacher. Before my current position, I was a second grade teacher and have also worked as a lead pre-k teacher for a summer program, specializing instruction for my students ages 3-5 with mild to moderate disabilities.
