I will give you an example of a Social Studies lesson I had today. Someone in my class asked about the Super Bowl and if I saw the Half Time show? Yes I did, but did anyone understand the MAIN MESSAGE of the performance, as it was so much more than singing and dancing. Let's do some critical thinking....does anyone have any questions they are curious about ??
1. Who is Bad Bunny and where is he from?
2. What did the billboard behind Bad Bunny say??
3. Why did Donald Trump have reservations about him performing?
4. Why did Donald Trump give a negative review of the performance?
5. What were the words on the football that Bad Bunny was holding?
We can discuss the questions, look them up, make connections and jot down our answers. Then we will go back to the question..did anyone understand the MAIN MESSAGE of the performance. The student is asked to write it down in one small paragraph and can use their notes to help them!!!!!!!
