I have a Master's degree in Reading and Language from Boston University, and BA in English Literature plus 60 graduate credits in Emotional Intelligence, Learning Disabilities, Study Skills, Intelligence and Talent Assessments. The central theme of my teaching has been how to motivate and engage students. With 35 years as a member of a meditation group techniques to calm, focus, increase self-awareness and collaboration continue to inspire me as does the enormous growth in the neuroscience of learning. I am committed to find ways for student succeed.
I have taught in many different venues; adults that were reading below the 3rd-grade level, clients from the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, speed reading, and college composition. Recently, I worked as an adjunct professor at Nashua Community College.
Unlike some teachers who have a straight trajectory of one success after another, there have been struggles and challenges. Because I am dyslexic, I strongly empathized with clients who have learning disabilities. As the reading specialist at the FW Parker School, I designed the orientation and study skills program for all incoming students as well as additional support for LD students.
I am highly analytical and determined to solve problems. Please contact me for details about availability.
PS. I write the best learning style, reading, and EQ competencies report in the whole world. They include client-entered strategies for achievement that work. Your organization would benefit from my extensive experience, my technical competence with computers, and a wide variety of supportive strategies for LD and typical clients.
I can travel but prefer to meet in the local library or on Skype - If you want a home visit out of my home town it is and additional .50 cents per mile.
