About Michael
I graduated from college in May of this year with a BA in creative writing. Ever since I was a kid I've always been drawn to writing, and naturally following that, reading. Wonderful things can be made with language, stories, poems, convincing rhetoric, it's almost endless, and learning how to do that correctly in a meaningful way is even more of a joy. I love to read widely and write stories, but I also love to help others learn. If I can help deliver somehow the same satisfaction and joy I receive in writing and learning, I'm glad to do it.

My approach to tutoring is a fully immersive and comprehensive style of learning. I never preferred lecture style as a student, dumping a vast amount of knowledge at an accelerated pace seemed counter-intuitive and difficult. Rather, I like to view English tutoring as a conversation, with meaningful questions and answers to help students understand the given topic. Once I learn how my students learn best, I am easily able to craft the right style of learning, at the right pace. No pace is too fast or slow, and I always encourage students to be, and try, their best. I also like to make learning fun, as that's what always captivated my attention in the classroom.
The lessons, albeit varying depending on what are learning, will start with an overview and a loose timeline. We'll work through the material at a comfortable, resolving pace. If we are doing literature we'll have readings to complete between sessions with questions and themes sheets for each section of the book. If we are doing writing, we'll work through all the facets of creative writing, go through various writing prompts and styles, as well as read material that bolsters our ability and imagination.
These lessons can be for any grade, and will be tailored as such.
