About Annabel
I studied Ancient and Modern History at Oxford, achieving a first and a high 2.1 in the two Ancient History exams I sat, and a strong 2.1 overall. I have just completed a master's degree in Medieval History at UCL, and I am predicted to achieve a distinction, with a 90% in Latin and a distinction on all essay-writing modules.
At school, I achieved a very strong set of grades, with A*A*A* in History (Edexcel), English (AQA), and Maths (Edexcel), and an A in Latin AS Level. My GCSE results were ten grade 9s and one grade 8. I would be happy to discuss tutoring in any of these areas, particularly History. At GCSE, I completed the Edexcel course with modules on Crime and Punishment, the Cold War, Weimar Germany and Tudor England, and so am particularly experienced in these papers.

As a recent university graduate, I have been engaged in formal study of Latin for many years and am familiar with the process of preparing for Latin exams at different levels. At school, I achieved an A* in Latin Language and Roman Civilisation Level 2, and an A in Latin AS Level, the highest possible grades. I am familiar with the OCR and WJEC specifications for these qualifications. At Oxford, I studied Latin Language intensively for a year, and have recently completed another year of Latin study at UCL, where I achieved 90% in my final exam. I am particularly competent in Latin grammar, and have worked with other students to guide them in this area.
I am very interested in Roman history and love learning Latin; I particularly enjoy reading the texts and stories while learning. Over the last year, I took part in a Latin play, which gave me a new appreciation for the language! I have worked through various Latin courses, and so am familiar with the Cambridge Latin Course, Latin to/beyond GCSE, and Teach Yourself Latin textbooks. I am able to tutor GCSE or A level students, or anyone studying Latin up to an intermediate level.
I have mentored history in school, and I am experienced working with school children; I have worked with students in one-to-one guidance and small group teaching sessions while working in an outreach position at the University of Cambridge. I always ensure to adapt my sessions to the students, and like to be well prepared for any teaching I may do. My recent educational experiences and familiarity with the exam processes give me a great insight into how best to structure tutoring for GCSE and A Level students.
Furthermore, I have experience with one-to-one university admissions mentoring, and would be happy to discuss application guidance and support. I have worked in schools to help provide advice and feedback on personal statements and application preparation, and am particularly familiar with the Oxford and Cambridge admissions processes, having gone through them myself.
