About Alice
I'm a recent graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, where I earned my degree in Political Science and Economics with a 3.95 GPA. My academic background is both interdisciplinary and rigorous, and I've developed strong skills as a researcher and writer through extensive coursework across the humanities and social sciences. In addition to my specialties, I have a solid foundation in literature, math, history, and science, allowing me to support students across a wide range of subjects. Beyond academics, I have hands-on experience in education. I've taught adult learners and ESL students through a local literacy council, and I’ve served as a tutor with Teach For America’s Ignite Fellowship, where I provided targeted support to K–12 students. My tutoring approach is student-centered, adaptive, and focused on building a deep understanding of the subject matter. I begin by assessing each learner’s current level and tailoring my methods to fit their unique needs and learning style. I emphasize conceptual clarity, using guided questions and scaffolded instruction to help students think critically and solve problems independently. Lessons are interactive, with a balance of explanation, guided practice, and independent work, all supported by regular feedback. I create a low-pressure, encouraging environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and growing from them.
I tutor all core subjects from elementary through high school, including math, science, reading, and writing. I also assist college students with academic writing, literature, history, politics, and economics. Whether a student needs help catching up, wants to excel, or is preparing for exams, I provide personalized support that meets them where they are and helps them reach their goals. My ability to clearly explain complex ideas and adapt to different learning styles sets me apart, and I strive to build not just subject knowledge, but lasting confidence.
