About Samantha

Hi, I’m Samantha, a tutor based in Norwich who teaches English, practical business skills, and beginner photography, in person or online.

I’m a returning student myself, currently studying for a BA in Photography with the Open College of the Arts while working full-time. That means I know what it takes to manage study alongside work and life, and I understand how daunting it can feel to learn again after time away. I bring that understanding to every lesson.

My own studies involve a lot of reading, writing, and essay work, so I use these skills every day. I hold Grades B and C in English Literature and Language, and a [Level 3] BTEC in Business [Distinction*], A* equivalent to an A-level. I’m also currently building my own business, so I understand the planning, marketing, and persistence it takes to get one off the ground, and I enjoy sharing practical, beginner-friendly tips.

What you can expect from me

- A patient, friendly, and supportive approach, with no judgement and no question too small.
- Lessons planned around your goals, not a fixed script.
- Clear, honest feedback so you can see your progress. - Reliable communication, punctuality, and respect for your time.

I’m new to tutoring, so I’m offering a free intro chat. It’s a chance to meet, talk through what you need, and check that we’re a good fit before you commit to anything.

About the lesson

My approach

I believe everyone can improve their English with the right support and a bit of patience. I start every student with a short chat about what you find hard and what you want to achieve, whether that’s a better GCSE grade, clearer writing for work, or just more confidence.
Then I build lessons around you rather than a fixed script.

Techniques and methodology

- Break writing down into small, manageable steps, such as planning, paragraphs, and structure
- Work through real examples and practice questions together, so you can see how a good answer is built
- Clear explanations of grammar and punctuation, with exercises to check understanding
- Honest, encouraging feedback on your writing, with one or two clear things to improve each time
- Short tasks between lessons if you want them, and no pressure if you don’t.

Lesson length

Lessons are 60 minutes, online by video call or in person in Norwich. Shorter or longer sessions are possible if that suits you better.

Qualifications and experience

I hold a Grade B in English Literature and a Grade C in English Language, and I’m currently studying for a BA in Photography with the Open College of the Arts, which involves a lot of reading, writing, and essay work. I’m new to tutoring, so I’m offering a free intro chat and fair rates while I build up reviews. I’m also a returning student myself, so I know what it feels like to start learning again.

Who the lessons are for?

GCSE students who want help with essays, exam study skills, and writing skills.
Adult learners returning to study, or wanting to improve their writing, spelling, and grammar for work, courses, or confidence.
