About Laila

I have been an English tutor for the past three summers, creating presentations every week on everything from grammar to writing skills. The SAT is one of the most difficult tests I have ever taken, and I have learned the skills and strategies to get close to a perfect score in those two English modules. Although I might be young, I am experienced and qualified!

About the lesson

- No matter what part specifically in English studying or age level, lessons will always be engaging and interactive - Lesson plans will vary depending on specific tutoree goals and age, but if tutoring someone taking the English SAT, lessons would look like: 1) Introductions 2) Daily grammar review (on a specific strategy/punctuation rule) and "quiz-style review" from previous days 3) Daily vocab review (20 high frequency SAT words/session, 20 Latin roots - minimal "quiz-style" review) 4) Jump into a certain type of question on the SAT (could be logically completes the text questions, etc). and go over/put into practice specific strategies for those - What I see as setting me apart is that I'm still in high school, and have all these concepts still fresh in my mind. Also, I feel because I am so young and have gone through numerous tutoring courses with different teachers and teaching styles over the years, I understand more that the best way for kids-teenagers to learn in a session is for them to stay engaged. - These sessions are for everyone from sophomores/juniors in high school studying for the SAT to younger 6th-7th graders having trouble with reading comprehension, managing time, writing out ideas in a succinct and grammatical way, etc.
