About Shania
I am a sociology student with five years of experience working with younger children in summer camp and educational settings. Through this experience, I have learned how to create a safe, supportive, and structured environment where children feel comfortable and confident while learning. I believe patience, consistency, and encouragement are essential for helping young learners succeed. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing rugby and have a strong love for music, which helps me bring energy and positivity into my sessions. I believe learning should be engaging and enjoyable, so I use humor and creativity to keep lessons fun without feeling overwhelming. My goal is to help children build confidence, develop strong English skills, and enjoy the learning process.

As a sociology student with 5 years of experience working with younger children in summer camp settings, I provide English tutoring designed for young learners of all levels. My approach focuses on creating a supportive, structured, and positive learning environment where children feel comfortable, confident, and encouraged.
My teaching methodology is influenced by the many teachers and educators I have worked alongside over the years, combined with my own personal teaching style. I use age-appropriate techniques such as guided reading, storytelling, games, and simple writing activities to keep lessons engaging and effective. I adapt each lesson to the child’s pace and learning style while maintaining clear goals and routines.
A typical lesson begins with a warm check-in and review, followed by focused activities such as phonics practice, reading comprehension, basic grammar, or early writing skills. Lessons are broken into short sections to support young attention spans and always end with positive reinforcement and a brief recap of what was learned.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to blend proven teaching strategies with my own creative and caring approach. My background in sociology helps me understand how children learn differently, and my hands-on experience working with young children allows me to explain concepts patiently and clearly.
