About Lauryn
I am a soon-to-be graduate with a degree in Psychology. During my bachelor's degree, I gained extensive knowledge in child development. During my years of literacy tutoring, I have helped many children develop literacy skills and feel successful. Including positive reinforcement in sessions is an easy way to keep children engaged and excited.

These lessons are directed towards elementary-aged students looking for extra literacy support, in reading and writing. The lesson would be determined depending on the child's reading level after completing a quick phonics screening. Lessons will focus on building the child's foundational skills, filling in gaps in knowledge, and addressing problem areas. A typical lesson plan would look like starting out with explaining to a child what we will do, and moving on to a quick warm-up. A warm would consist of a quick review of the last session in the form of a game. It is important to review the last session as mastery is crucial to enhancing literacy skills. Depending on the lesson, the child may then work on letter sounds, reading, or writing. Toward the end of the session, we would play a game as a positive reinforcer for the child's hard work.
I have two years experience tutoring literacy program to children with learning disabilities, I have gained experience in helping children develop to their full potential.
