About Justin
During high school, I frequently tutored and peer reviewed writing for people at multiple different levels. I've continued to gain experience in writing as well as editing during my time at the university as well, so I'm quite accustomed to providing constructive and substantive feedback in a patient and understanding manner. I'm currently a National Merit Scholar, a recipient of a grant from the University of Illinois based on academic achievement, and finished my first year of studies with a 4.0 GPA. This accomplishment has put me on the Dean's List, a prestigious academic distinction reserved for very highly-achieving students. Of course, I have scored highly in every English class I've taken throughout my education, which I mention specifically only because it is the subject I'm offering to teach. If a student is looking for help with standardized testing such as the ACT, I scored perfectly on the English section and a 35 overall. All of this is meant to assure the student that my academic background is legitimate and that I am more than capable of providing meaningful help in a professional manner.

Students will submit what they wish to work on prior to the session. For example, a student might send me a copy of the first draft of the essay they are working on, along with any questions or specific issues they wish to work on. I will review the material before meeting with the student and decide on the best course of action. This might look like a full rewrite, a simple edit, or even just a discussion of what the student might to do improve. Therefore, a typical session will consist of a 3-part lesson plan that involves reading the material together, going over comments or questions by both parties regarding the material, and finally addressing the most significant issues at hand. These lessons will generally be most helpful to high schoolers, though they can be applied to middle schoolers as well.
