About Ivy
Teaching is my 3rd career, I started out in cosmetology for 10 years, then Human Resources, and finally teaching. I have been a Special Educator for 6 years now and I have learned so much. Each child deserves to be taught in a way that they can learn, and that's what is the coolest thing about working with students with disabilities -- every day is different.

I love teaching social skills and executive functioning skills, whether that be organizational skills or perspective taking. I think the life skills are just as, if not more, important than our academics. Does your child struggle with planning out how much time an activity takes, or getting together materials for an assignment? Does your child have a hard time making friends, and often come home saying "I'm not friends with "xyz" any more" because they don't understand that a disagreement doesn't mean it has to be the end? These are skills we can work on through discussion and game-based learning.
