About Sarojini

Hello. I am Dr. Sarojini Prahlad, a qualified medical practitioner (now retired). I have specialized in radiology and have been with cancer hospitals mainly, since 1990. My career has exposed me not only to the fears and anxieties of cancer patients, but also to the problem that Tamil medium students face while pursuing their education and daily interactions. Hence I have tailored my teaching practice to help those who need a helping hand in English. My interests include reading, drawing and watching films from various languages, so that I get exposed to them. My passions are teaching, writing and art. I lose concept of time when I teach and am happy to say that my students love my classes. I sincerely hope that this teacher-student family grows, and includes you.

About the lesson

A strong foundation in English can take you to great heights. My parents gave me this, with an English medium school education that had great English teachers. The reading habit was inculcated early, and conversation at home was bilingual. Starting my medical career with a teaching post in 1990, I have trained and taught technicians, graduates and postgraduates in various disciplines of medicine. My classes have been interactive and never stereotyped or didactic. As the subject is English, the approach should be sensitive, as attention has to be paid to vocabulary, grammar, and diction. Students will be encouraged to speak and write frequently, with assurance from all others that there will be no ridicule. The best place to make a mistake is in front of me, so that all stand corrected and speak up freely, building up their confidence and eventually self-esteem. Extra reading on a regular basis will be encouraged. If knowledge is power, proficiency in English is a superpower. A constant feedback, and remuneration of Rs.1000/- per hour are what I ask, for wielding English as your weapon.

Greetings! I am Aditya Narayanan M, currently a 2nd year MBBS student at Madras Medical College and Dr.Sarojini's nephew.
I would like to share the fact that her proficiency in English is at a different level. She helped me time and again during my schooling phase and added to my vocabulary and communication skills . It is my sincere opinion that she would make a great teacher of the language. And I should also mention that her knowledge of the medical field is not any lesser.
I gained a whole lot of medical knowledge from her even before I entered the course. And once I did, she's been keenly interested in getting my basics strong, helping me with prize exam preparations as well.
