About Tiffany
I began my career in real estate where I educated adults on marketing., sales, and contract writing. I returned to school to pursue a career in teaching and graduated in May 2016 with my B.A. in English. At the same time, I completed a teacher certification program at Tulane University. I am now pursuing my M.A. in English at Tulane because I believe that high content area knowledge is one key in providing excellent education to others. Under the guidance of a mentor teacher I have experience with teaching 6th and 7th grade English and Reading courses. I have privately tutored students K-5th grade and tutored freshman in college in writing.

My mission is to provide excellent education every time I work with a student. Learning is an intricate process. My education has taught me that learning is individual, content and context specific. As a teacher, I am attentive to these factors and work to be caring and flexible, adapting my approaches and tailoring my instruction in response to the needs of learners, subject matter and setting. While my teaching objectives vary, depending upon the context, my overall goals as a teacher for any course are:
• to spark enthusiasm for learning;
• to foster critical thinking so that students can effectively evaluate relevant issues and information;
• to provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning; and
• to encourage application of course materials to real-world contexts
In my interactions with students, I strive to challenge them and inspire them to question. I want my students to learn to think more critically, not merely to accept my ideas and opinions. I believe that course material should be challenging, engaging, and relevant to current issues and students’ lives. I have found that learning is most likely to occur when students become personally engaged with the material and perceive the subject matter to be directly relevant to their own lives.
