About Brendan
I am a Ph.D. Student at a top-ranking Canadian University. I have a Master's in Philosophy and a Graduate Certificate in Gender and Sexuality Studies. I am a graduate, with an Honors Thesis, from the University of Chicago.
In addition, I have been published in several academic journals. I have been a writing tutor for undergraduates and high school students. I made the Dean's List several years in a row in my undergraduate studies. Furthermore, I passed my Master's Qualifications with distinction.

I primarily focus on making sure the student understands the implications and depths of their argument, as well as the material covered. As a graduate of both the University of Chicago and the New School of Social Research, I understand the need for well-argued essays which meet the rigor required of excellence. I go line-by-line with my students to really focus on the mechanics of each sentence and thesis topic.
My methodology is primarily focused on explicating the student's thoughts to gain a deeper understanding of their ideas. This involves speaking through the ideas, testing out sentences, searching for meaning in messiness, and teaching the lessons I have learned. My expertise is in clarity and beauty at the sentence, paragraph, and essay levels. Clarity, strength, and beauty are the backbones of any great essay.
I believe everyone can be a great writer, and my aim is exactly that.
