About Salma

I am a first year BSc Psychology with Criminology student at the University of Reading who is passionate about changing the way of tutoring students, instead of just focusing on the material and syllabus, but also focusing on how to retain that knowledge through by integrating cognitive learning strategies, I help students move past rote memorisation and instead focus on deep, meaningful understanding through techniques like metacognition, retrieval practice, and spaced repetition. Drawing deeply from educational psychology, I tailor my instruction to each student's unique cognitive load capacity and emotional needs, fostering a strong growth mindset and building intrinsic motivation.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach centres on evidence-based child development principles to create a supportive, high-impact learning environment. By integrating cognitive learning strategies, I help students move past rote memorisation and instead focus on deep, meaningful understanding through techniques like metacognition, retrieval practice, and spaced repetition. Drawing deeply from educational psychology, I tailor my instruction to each student's unique cognitive load capacity and emotional needs, fostering a strong growth mindset and building intrinsic motivation. Recognising that children progress through distinct developmental stages, I design age-appropriate scaffolds that align with their current cognitive, social, and emotional milestones—ensuring they feel confident, valued, and empowered to take ownership of their own academic journey.
