About Jolie
I’ve always been a grammar and spelling geek. But, English as a whole was never my inherent, power skill. I relate to students on that level. By pushing myself through crisp focus, and knowing that mastering a subject takes time, I was able to bring my skills to a whole new level. I want to pass down everything I’ve learned, and how I learned it, to students who need it.

After first understanding a students’ individual needs, the student and I come up with a plan together. It’s important to cultivate a strong, trusting student-teacher relationship.
I like to emphasize active engagement, organization, and simplicity. Through honing in on these skills and techniques, the student will, over time, build confidence and competence.
I put myself in the student’s shoes. The reality is, I was once learning English at their level. When I think about my own worries and frustrations that I had as a student, it can further help me think like a student – and thus will help me understand exactly what they need to truly grasp the content.
