About Hira
Hi, I’m Hira! I’m a CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association)–certified tutor with over three years of experience helping students from elementary school through college in mastering English and writing. I currently work as a Writing Tutor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), where I support undergraduate students across a range of writing assignments. I’ve held this role for three years and have also served as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for various classes, including English as a Second Language (ESL). I strive to model academic excellence in my own work as a 4.0 student on the President's List and a Scholars student. I’ve earned several major scholarships, most notably the Sondheim Public Affairs Scholarship at UMBC. I specialize in grammar, essay writing, and academic communication, and I’m passionate about helping students build confidence in their writing and find their unique voice. My approach is student-focused, because I know firsthand that writing can be tough, but it’s always learnable with the right support.

My Philosophy:
I believe learning should feel doable, not overwhelming. My sessions are student-focused, which means that I meet you where you are and build upward from there. I ask guiding questions, simplify complex ideas, and help you discover patterns in your thinking.
I help with a range of writing pieces, whether you're writing a lab report or structuring a personal essay, I am here to teach you life-long skills in English writing so you can tackle any assignment alone
For who?
All ages through elementary school to undergraduate, even graduate students
A Typical Lesson Plan:

End of Session– You leave with next steps, tools, or a revised draft.
