About George
Hiya! My name is George Comber and I am very passionate about teaching English. I love to read and go to the theatre and I have been part of many Drama Productions which include Romeo and Juliet and Oliver Twist! I also listen to and play music in a band where I play guitar and (try to) sing. I have a record collection and a slowly developing CD collection - its harder than you think! I enjoy meeting with my friends on my course after lectures and talking about the books on our course and telling each other about what we've been reading.

An important aspect of my teaching methodology is of transparent communication between teacher and student. Whether it is the themes of a text that you're struggling with, or the specific language and formal techniques, I believe that engaging in open and critical discussions regarding the content and its difficulties will allow the student to think for themselves and adapt their own process of analysis. With a typical lesson length of 50 minutes, this allows the student to effectively maintain and work with the content presented without it becoming overbearing or intense. Studying at Manchester University and coming to the end of 2nd year, I believe I have a very good understanding and application of various literary theories. I also worked as an actor in a theatre company containing various age groups which meant I have developed the skills of helping people develop their own understanding of Dramatic and Literary texts. The lessons would be for those studying at GCSE and A-Level.
