About Shireen

I am currently a first-year BA Primary Education student at Queen Margaret University, working towards a career in primary teaching. I am a friendly, patient and approachable person with strong communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting children.

I want to teach because I enjoy helping children learn, grow and become more confident in their abilities. I believe every child deserves to feel supported and encouraged in their learning, and I would find it rewarding to help them overcome challenges and make progress. I am particularly interested in primary education because teachers can make a positive difference to children at an important stage of their development.

My degree is helping me develop my knowledge of how children learn and the importance of creating positive and engaging learning experiences. Becoming an online tutor would allow me to support pupils individually, adapt my approach to their needs and gain valuable experience alongside my studies as I continue working towards becoming a primary school teacher.

About the lesson

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the Online Primary School Tutor position. I am currently studying BA Primary Education at Queen Margaret University and am passionate about supporting children with their learning and helping them build confidence in a positive and encouraging environment.

Through my degree, I am developing my knowledge of child development, learning and classroom practice. I have strong communication skills and enjoy engaging with and supporting children in a patient, friendly and approachable manner. I understand the importance of adapting support to meet individual needs and creating a comfortable environment where children feel confident to ask questions and learn at their own pace.

I also have strong organisational and time-management skills, as well as experience working in a busy environment through my role as a Customer Assistant at Tesco. This has helped me develop my communication, reliability and ability to remain calm under pressure. I am comfortable with technology and have a keen interest in digital skills, which I believe would be particularly valuable when delivering tutoring sessions online.

I achieved an A in Higher English and a C in Higher Mathematics, alongside other qualifications, and would be enthusiastic about supporting primary school pupils with their learning. As someone currently working towards becoming a primary teacher, I would value the opportunity to gain further experience supporting children outside of the classroom while helping them progress and achieve their goals.

I am a motivated, reliable and approachable individual who would be committed to making online learning engaging and supportive for every pupil. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my application further.
