About Dalia

I have more than twenty years' experience in teaching Academic English, TEFL, ESOL, English for specific purposes in Egypt and in the United Kingdom. I taught young learners and adults.

Teaching allowed me to facilitate the learning process by breaking down big ideas into simple steps. It also helped equip learners with essential and basic skills pertinent for life, at the workplace and for further learning.

I have a Master's degree majoring in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from The American University in Cairo, Egypt. I also have a Master's degree certificate in Organisational Leadership (DAI Program).
Moreover, I have a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Science and minoring in Economics from The American University in Cairo. Furthermore, I have a Teacher Training Certificate for overseas teachers of English awarded from The University of Cambridge. Local Examinations Syndicate (CELTA).

A CLT Teaching Enhancement Certificate for participating in the Centre of Learning and Teaching's Faculty Development Institute at The American University in Cairo.

I was hired as a full-time ESOL and Functional Skills Lecturer by Sheffield College Leeds City College, UK. I worked as a Cover Teacher for the following UK educational agencies; Education World, Prospero Teaching, Trust Education, Luminate Education Group UK, Masterclass Education, and Morgan Hunt.

Furthermore, I worked as an adjunct faculty at two universities; The American University in Cairo and The Nile University in Cairo. I taught Academic English at the Rhetoric and Composition and Language Departments.

This entailed teaching students:
- how to write academic essays
- how to develop critical and analytical thinking reading skills
* I taught undergraduate students Research Work.
This entailed teaching students how to write academic research papers.
* I tutored at the Writing Centre.
This entailed reviewing graduate and undergraduate students' assignments and research papers and giving them feedback on their performance.

I also worked as a TEFL and ESP teacher at The American University in Cairo (The School of Continuing Education SCE)
* I taught adult learners the following courses:
General English
(Basic, Elementary, Intermediate & Advanced levels)
Business English Courses
This focused on teaching communicative English and Business Writing used at the workplace.
Test Preparation Courses (TOEFL)
Teacher training courses for Maths and Science Teachers

I tutored many students as well. I always adopt a learner-centred approach that places the student at the centre of the learning process. Active participation of the student is enhanced through discussions and hands-on projects rather than listening passively to lectures. My role will be mainly a facilitator, a guide and a mentor. Instruction will focus on the student’s personal needs, interests and background experience. I also allow reflective practice. Hence, students are allowed to assess their own progress, reflect on how they learn and adjust their strategies.

The duration of my lesson is usually an hour and a half. I prefer to teach adult learners. I teach basic, intermediate and advanced learners.
