About Clifford
My aim is to create and maintain an asset-based learning environment that identifies and affirms the unique strengths of my students as well as empowers them on a journey of self-discovery. Accompanying my combined 8 years of volunteer and professional teaching experience is formal pedagogical training from Relay Graduate School of Education that will inspire the bulk of my instructional decisions. However, in recognizing that true language study requires an intimate knowledge of history, culture, and humanity, I will seek to model this by prioritizing the relationships I build with each one of my students- exploring who they are, how they relate to the world and their peers, and where they intend to use their education to positively impact both.

I believe in a collaborative approach to individual instruction that prioritizes not only the learning goals, but the academic interests of my students. Depending on the subject, a typical lesson plan of mine will include modelling, the use of multimedia, and plenty of opportunities for intentional practice and discussion around the skill, topic, or standard taught in the lesson.
