About Sarah
I believe in making things easy. I have had first hand experience struggling with academics in school, and know how difficult it can be to find studying and learning techniques that work. I also understand that there is an endless amount of factors that lead students to develop a fear of learning or doubting their capabilities. I simply want to give you the tools you need to overcome any areas you are struggling with, and help build your self-confidence in your own ability.
I have also personally struggled with ADHD in high school, but the experience has equipped me with first hand knowledge on how to support and nurture learners struggling with ADHD and other learning disabilities. I am also dedicated to helping you manage your levels of stress and anxiety- especially under test and exam conditions. Above anything else, I want my students to develop a genuine love of learning and a strong sense of confidence in their capabilities.

One of the main reasons I am interested in private tutoring is the benefits of one-on-one learning. Every student is unique and capable of learning, but not every student responds to the same teaching techniques. Working with a student and catering to their specific needs and learning techniques is essential to me, and an important part of my teaching philosophy. I believe in adapting my methods of teaching specifically to the individual learner, and establishing a relationship of trust and communication. An important part of my teaching strategy is to identify problem areas first before developing a "plan of attack" that the learner and I can embark on together. Regardless of the subject, I teach every learner how to approach a topic; how to break it down into something less daunting; and how to make it easy.
I am available to teach Music; English; and History from Grade 4-12 level. I am also available to teach Music Theory from Grade 1-6 levels (UNISA; ABRSM and Trinity). All of my subjects are taught in English.
