About Joe

I have been giving tuition lessons to family friends since I passed my GCSEs in 2015. Every person I have tutored has improved their results. I have only helped a handful of students, but I am confident that I can tackle most people. I will always be 100% honest with you as a parent, keeping you in the loop and letting you know how everything is going.

About the lesson

My name's Joe, and I have just graduated from year 13. I have spent my whole education in the grammar system, after passing the 11+ and then passing my IGCSEs with 8A*s, 3As and 1B.

As a result, I have had the opportunity to be selected for a highly competitive academic scholarship to study at an American Ivy League University. As well as completing English qualifications, I also passed the American College Test (ACT; US equivalent to A levels) with a composite score of 31, in which I was tested on science, writing, reading, English and Mathematics.

I am trying to save for my trip abroad, and would love it if you considered me to tutor your child! I am a dedicated individual with experience in this field, helping students significantly improve their GCSE and 11+ results.

My lesson structure is to initially set them tests, and from that identify weaknesses that need to be improved. Through one-to-one sessions, I build trust with students, and from there we will go over the content they are less sure on, explaining concepts and theories at however basic a level and work from there. Once these have been well established, there will be a period of testing on these issues, and then at the end, I will get the student to take a test like the initial one I set to gauge how far they have improved and whether further action is needed.

I understand that there is no set formula for students to learn, and for that reason, I like to get to know the students I am tutoring so that I can tailor learning around their needs and characteristics.
