About Karlee
Karlee Navarro earned her Bachelor of Music and Professional Studies Certificate in Trumpet Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, followed by a Master of Music at the Yale School of Music. Lastly, she recently completed a Master of Musical Arts at the Yale School of Music, and has relocated to her hometown of Portland, OR in June 2026.
Karlee’s trumpet performance experience spans orchestral, solo, and featured ensemble settings. Her work includes serving as Principal Trumpet with the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony and appearing with professional orchestras such as the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Santa Rosa Symphony, and Symphony Parnassus. She has performed as a fellow with Festival Napa Valley and the Spoleto Festival USA Orchestra, as well as with the Oregon Mahler Festival. She has also had the honor of performing in high-profile events and ensembles, including the San Francisco Symphony Brass Ensemble, the Yale Brass Trio during Climate Week NYC, and as a National Anthem soloist for the Navy Seal Foundation. Karlee looks forward to reconnecting with her roots as an alumna of the Portland Youth Philharmonic and continuing her performance journey in the Portland area.
Karlee has loved her experience teaching brass students in school and pre-college settings. She currently serves as a Brass Teaching Artist with the Yale School of Music’s Music in Schools Initiative, working with students in New Haven Public Schools, and previously taught through the San Francisco Conservatory in Schools Initiative in San Francisco Public Schools. She has also worked as a Brass Teaching Artist with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s Pre-College program, providing side-by-side support for brass students within their ensembles.
Karlee has a background in piano, as it was her first instrument. She started playing at eight years old, taking lessons into her middle school years. She has continued her piano studies through her years at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Yale School of Music.
Outside of music, she loves spending time with her husband and family, traveling, trying new coffee shops and restaurants, going outside, doing arts and crafts, completing jigsaw puzzles, and watching documentaries.

I create engaging, individualized lessons that inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music. Students develop strong fundamentals through singing, rhythm activities, ear training, technical exercises, and repertoire appropriate to their level. I believe students learn best when they feel encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and celebrate their progress. Every lesson is adapted to the student’s unique strengths, interests, and goals, helping them grow both musically and personally. I have over fifteen years of experience in performing and teaching music. I’d love work with you!
