About Whitney

Allow me to introduce myself. With over 20 years of classroom teaching experience and a deep commitment to student success, I am excited to offer personalized online tutoring. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History with a focus in Education, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and state teaching certifications in Elementary Education, English Language Arts (grades 7–12), and Social Studies (grades 7–9). My extensive background includes formal International Baccalaureate (IB) training at both the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) levels, and I currently teach English to ESOL students in a large urban public school district in Pennsylvania.

Beyond my professional background, I am the proud mother of three children who are currently in or graduated from college, so I understand firsthand both the academic and emotional support students need to navigate their educational journeys. Whether your child needs targeted skill-building, subject-specific support, or strategies for academic growth, I bring a compassionate, experienced, and highly tailored approach to every session.

About the lesson

Hi there! I am a passionate educator with extensive experience teaching Language Arts, and History at both the middle and high school levels. Beyond subject-specific instruction, I also work with students on building essential study skills—including time management, organization, reading comprehension strategies, and effective test prep—that foster long-term academic confidence.

How I Work with Students:

Personalized Assessment: Every student learns differently. We start by identifying specific goals, areas for growth, and individual learning strengths to build a tailored plan.
Targeted Skill Building: We focus directly on the exact skills needing improvement, whether that means mastering essay writing, analyzing historical sources, or developing stronger study habits.
Flexible Curriculum: Lessons are fully customizable. We can work directly on current school assignments and homework, or I can design targeted exercises and practice materials specifically tailored to the student's needs.
