About Chanel

Hi there! I’m Chanel Smith, a certified permaculture designer and educator with 10 years of experience in creating abundant, regenerative spaces. I specialize in native plants, medicinal herbs, and pollinator gardens, and I’m passionate about making permaculture accessible to everyone. I love empowering people to reclaim their health and food systems while cultivating a deeper connection with the earth.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of designing a wide variety of spaces, including healing centers, permaculture demonstration sites, academies, urban yards, farms, and homesteads. I’ve also taught Permaculture Design Courses (PDCs), helping countless students earn their certifications and gain the confidence to create their own sustainable systems. Whether through design or education, I’m dedicated to helping individuals and communities thrive.

As an heirloom gardener and regenerative living enthusiast, I believe healthy food is a birthright. When I’m not teaching or designing, you’ll often find me wild foraging, gardening with my son and community, or hosting my monthly Ecstatic Boogie and Drum Circle—a celebration of People Care, connection, and joy.

About the lesson

Join Chanel Smith's family-friendly permaculture classes, designed for all ages to learn together. Covering topics like permaculture design, regenerative gardening, pollinators, composting, and more, these classes emphasize fun and play, engaging all ages. Families will learn regenerative skills, build soil, process harvests, and design sustainable lives while bonding and creating deeper connections. Success stories include families transforming small gardens into bountiful spaces that connect them to their ancestry. With "home studies" and presentation days, families and communities work on projects together and learn from each other.
