About Richard

Hey beautiful people and gentle folks — I’m Mr. Rich or Richard, your guide to becoming confident, clear, and powerful in how you read, write, and express yourself. With years of experience as an educator, facilitator and community organizer I bring a student-centered and tailored approach to teaching. Through teaching GED prep and English Language Arts, I’ve developed a unique system called RLA with Mr. Rich, where literacy becomes a journey of self-discovery, strategy, and success. My approach blends real-world topics, creative writing, and critical thinking. I teach students not only how to pass the test, but how to think for themselves, build arguments with purpose, and develop their own voice through writing. Every student I work with learns the BAD SQAT Formula (Background, Argument, Details → Summarize, Quote, Add, Topic), a proven system that makes writing easy, powerful, and structured. We also focus on reading comprehension, grammar mastery, and essay confidence — all while building self-belief and clarity. I don’t just teach for scores — I teach for transformation. When you learn with me, you’ll leave every session feeling seen, heard, and smarter than when you arrived. Let’s turn reading and writing into a skill you love, not something you fear.

About the lesson

My sessions are interactive, affirming, and structured. I believe that every learner has a unique rhythm — I meet you where you are and move with you at your pace. Using my signature “Points 4 Progress” feedback system, I help students see exactly where they’re growing, what skills they’ve mastered, and where to focus next. Expect lessons filled with: • Real-world reading passages • Step-by-step writing strategies • Collaborative discussions • Encouragement, laughter, and accountability You won’t just learn English — you’ll learn how to think, communicate, and shine.
