About Zoe

I am a 17-year-old senior in high school. I love to read and write in my free time. English has always been an important subject to me and over the years I have joined countless spelling bees for my local school. I believe in hard work creating success and practice making perfect.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my goal is to build strong literacy skills while helping students feel confident and capable in their learning. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to meet each learner’s needs, pace, and interests. I focus on making lessons engaging, supportive, and structured, while reinforcing foundational skills that lead to long-term success. I use a student-centered approach that combines direct instruction, guided practice, and interactive activities. Lessons may include reading aloud, discussion, writing exercises, spelling strategies, games, and visual supports. I break down complex concepts into manageable steps and use repetition and positive reinforcement to ensure understanding. For spelling, I focus on patterns, phonics, and word meaning rather than rote memorization. Each lesson is tailored to the student, but a typical session includes:

A brief review of previously learned material

Introduction or reinforcement of a specific skill (such as reading comprehension, grammar, writing, or spelling patterns)

Guided practice with examples and exercises

Independent practice with support as needed

A short wrap-up to review progress and set goals for the next session

I regularly check for understanding and adjust the lesson as needed to keep students engaged and confident. What sets me apart is my patience, flexibility, and ability to connect with students. I create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I focus not only on academic improvement but also on building confidence, study skills, and a positive attitude toward learning. I communicate clearly with both students and parents to track progress and celebrate growth.
