About Kayla

I hold a Master's degree in STEM from the University of London and Bachelor's degree in the University of Nottingham. I am a Kumon Graduate and Instructor. I aim to inspire students to enjoy the learning process and not be afraid to ask for help. I have been teaching for 3 years, with almost 20 children over the period. I teach fully for 11+ Plus and 13 Plus with lesson plans moulded towards the needs of each student. My students have seen improvements in their reading as quickly as 3-4 months!

About the lesson

My motto in teaching is nurturing, as learning is not only understanding the topics, but also being disciplined and seeing things in a different light. I believe that each student has their own way of learning, thus accommodating to their strengths and weaknesses is very important as a teacher. I prepare students according to their and build their confidence towards learning.

For 11+, students start mainly from Year 4, but some soft starts in Years 2&3 to allow a smoother transition in learning. Each lesson runs typically 1.5 hours to allow time to revise what has been learnt in the previous lesson, and consolidate new topics.

During our lessons, I engage the students with their prior understanding in school. I will expand new ideas with them through different methods curated to each student.

My daughter has struggled significantly with maths, but Kayla has worked incredibly hard to teach her different methods that really help her understand the concepts.
