About Alexander
Rogue and often unorthodox, essentially feral, scholar typically drenched with sarcasm. Painfully aware that philosophy is something that one lives and then tries to explain, not just mental masturbation strictly for the classroom. The early, and greatest, philosophers were soldiers and emperors, Stoics lived stoicism, philosophy was the verbalization of lives lived properly in pursuit of pure truth, justice, purpose. It is an insult to those great minds limiting philosophy to academics only. Plato, Epicurus, Marcus Aurelius, Seneca, Nietzsche et al would want to fight you on the playground for limiting life to classroom hours only. As a native English speaker and student of literature philosophy forced me to also be a student of languages and history in order to understand, understanding is a comprehensive practice and that should be your primary objective if you intend to engage in this endeavor. Together we determine your developmental goals and design a method by which they can be attained with maximum retention and deep understanding. Surface understanding may help you pass a quiz administered immediately after the lesson but deep understanding remains with you forever, even when you have forgotten how to verbalize it concisely. One doesn’t truly understand anything unless they can effectively explain it to a five year old. Enjoying your journey is essential for maximizing your success so those lacking a sense of humor can stop here. You won’t like it here and we probably won’t like having you here.
