About Lucy

Growing up with a younger sister and many younger cousins, I learned quickly how to help them read, write, and learn. Now that I am in University (UVic), I would like to provide help to those who struggle or have the desire to learn. To provide the kind of help I wish I had received in my younger years of education, I have secured access to expansive resources like databases and tools of research. If you or your child has difficulty with a subject that I am not as familiar with, I am set up to talk to professionals and conduct research to ensure that I am providing the best information and education possible.

About the lesson

My two expertise are writing and reading! I am very passionate about these areas of study, and with my university background, I can help you or your child prepare for their future education.

My four types of lessons are as listed:

1) Learn the fundamental basics of writing, including all types of essays and writing assignments. I will provide students with a base understanding of what is being asked of them along with the rules of English, grammar and structuring.

2) I also offer reading help. This includes assistance with learning pronunciation, as well as/or how to interpret difficult material in a range of subjects like history and political science. Not only do students learn to interpret specific pieces of writing they bring to me, but they will also develop skills that can be used independently by them in future studies (these skills really come in handy in post-secondary education!).

Both lessons can be tailored to fit elementary school students or high school students!

3) The next type of tutoring I offer is reading time. This is for younger students who either need/want to hear more stories or read along with me for practice! Your choice.

4) The final type of tutoring I offer is great for elementary or early high school students. This is great for courses based on social justice, history, or any course that covers world events. This is a lesson where I (or the student, if they want to) choose a current or historical event. I will then research the event, and we go over the material in a detailed summary. This is more of a lecture-based tutoring session, but questions to further the student's grasp of the event will be asked.
