About Sophia
I am currently completing my Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Human Biology at UC Berkeley, where I have developed a comprehensive understanding of biological systems, human physiology, and the interconnected nature of life sciences. This interdisciplinary program has provided me with a strong foundation in chemistry, biology, and mathematical applications that directly supports my tutoring expertise in these subject areas. My tutoring journey began over five years ago on Schoolhouse.World, Khan Academy's tutoring platform, where I specialized in PSAT and SAT preparation. Through this experience, I developed a structured approach to test preparation that focuses on identifying individual student weaknesses and building targeted strategies for improvement. Many of my students achieved scores of 1500 or higher on the SAT, demonstrating the effectiveness of my methods in helping students reach their academic goals. Currently, I focus my tutoring efforts primarily through online platforms, working with high school students and advanced middle school students in algebra, biology, and chemistry. I customize my approach to each student's unique learning style, whether they are visual learners who benefit from interactive diagrams and virtual demonstrations, or analytical learners who prefer systematic problem-solving approaches. My online tutoring methods emphasize building conceptual understanding through personalized lesson plans, ensuring each student receives the best possible learning experience tailored to their individual needs and goals.
