About Olajide
My name is Olajide Olanipekun, and I am a dedicated music instructor at Charis School of Music. I am passionate about helping students discover their potential and build real confidence in their musical abilities.
I believe learning music should be structured but enjoyable. My lessons are organized, focused, and intentional, yet welcoming and encouraging. I maintain high standards while creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing at their own pace.
Professionalism matters to me. I value punctuality, preparation, and clear communication with both students and parents. At the same time, I aim to make every lesson engaging and inspiring so students look forward to learning.
My goal is simple: to help students truly understand music, develop strong technical skills, and enjoy the journey of becoming confident, independent musicians.

Fun Fact!
Every piece of music you hear — every song — ultimately boils down to just 12 musical notes. Just like every word, sentence, and essay is built from only 26 letters of the alphabet. Some people say music is a language, and I will teach you how to speak it.
My approach is structured, practical, and student-centered. I believe that music should be understood before it is performed. Therefore, I combine strong theoretical foundations with consistent hands-on application to ensure every student develops both knowledge and skill simultaneously. Most importantly, I teach what is important to the student. While I follow a structured curriculum, I intentionally align lessons with each student’s interests, goals, and musical preferences so learning remains meaningful and motivating.
My method focuses on three pillars: understanding, repetition, and application. I explain music theory in simple, relatable ways so students truly grasp concepts such as scales, rhythm, harmony, and chord structures. I incorporate ear training from the beginning to sharpen listening skills and musical awareness. Practical sessions are customized to each instrument (piano, saxophone, or guitar), using progressive exercises to strengthen technique, coordination, tone control, and confidence. I also use demonstration, guided practice, constructive correction, and song-based learning to accelerate improvement.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session begins with 30 minutes of joint foundational theory, ensuring students build strong musical literacy. This is followed by practical sessions focused on instrument mastery. During these sessions, we work on technical drills, song execution, rhythm accuracy, expression, and performance development. I often assign structured practice tasks that reinforce the day’s lesson and prepare students for the next session.
What Sets Me Apart
What distinguishes me is my commitment to teaching for mastery rather than memorization. I train students to understand music deeply so they can adapt, improvise, and play confidently — even beyond rehearsed material. I am patient while maintaining high standards. My goal is to develop independent musicians who can think musically on their own and have fun while doing so.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are designed for beginners and early intermediate learners of all ages who want a solid musical foundation. Whether children, teenagers, or adults beginning their musical journey, I am dedicated to helping each student grow in both knowledge and performance excellence.
