About Mary

I am an undergraduate student from Long Island, New York majoring in Political Science and International Affairs with a strong academic record and extensive experience supporting student learning at both the high school and college levels. I have four years of experience as a teaching assistant and peer mentor for college-level English and writing-intensive courses, where I helped students strengthen their writing, critical thinking, and academic confidence.
I am committed to providing structured, supportive, and professional tutoring sessions tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. My approach emphasizes clarity, organization, and confidence, helping students not only improve their work, but also develop skills they can apply independently in future academic and professional settings.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is student-centered, supportive, and goal-oriented. I focus on helping students build confidence in their skills while developing independent thinking and strong academic habits. I adapt my teaching methods to each student’s learning style, academic background, and goals. My tutoring is best suited for undergraduate students, particularly those in introductory or intermediate college courses, including English and other writing-intensive classes. I also work with high school students, including those enrolled in AP-level coursework such as AP Language and AP Literature. Having earned a score of 5 on both AP Language and AP Literature exams, I am well equipped to support students with academic writing, reading comprehension, rhetorical analysis, as well as resume and cover letter development.
