About Prathna

Hi! I am Prathna, an undergraduate student studying at the University of Melbourne. I am excited to be teaching English on superprof as I do believe every skill needs a teacher. While resources these days are truly abundant, having a one-to-one session with a teacher can help you achieve your learning goals much more effectively. In this pandemic, all we need is a touch of a human. While AI chatbots and YouTube videos are trying to fill that gap, it will never be the same.

Being born and brought up in Indonesia, I have been informally teaching English all my life to my friends in national schools, while I was fortunately sent to an international school speaking full English. I sympathized with my national friends and understood where they were coming from, where the lack of exposure to the language is a hindrance to their learning. Hence, I decided to take it a step further to guide more people in their skill development journey. We will achieve that goal together! Let's master the English language, in any you want :)

About the lesson

-I believe in a strategic form of teaching. We will firstly discuss your learning goals and set up a strategic plan to achieve them through weekly online sessions.

-A typical lesson plan is a 45-minute session (1-2x a week depending on the student) and is divided into three parts -
1..10 minutes - reviewing the previous session/ getting to know each other on the introductory session.
2. 30 minutes- the study session.
3. 5 minutes- a wrap up with any additional thoughts/ feedback from each other to ensure a clear communication style.

-I am known to be a flexible and open-minded person. In a usual teacher-student setting, the student complies with the teaching style and methodologies of the teacher. In this case, however, you can customize your teacher (me).
You will be able to share your preferred teaching style. For example, through providing exercises/ homework, whiteboard discussions, or even if you would like a chat.
You can share your flexibility level with the teacher; if you would like me to be strict on you, moderate, or relaxed. We will ensure that the method will match and align with your goals. By the end of the tutoring program, you will have achieved your desired state.

-These lessons are catered for middle school to high schools students seeking guidance in academic English, resume/CV writing, or want to improve their verbal English.
